Mobility Scooter Prescription
Mobility scooters are high-risk assistive technology, as each year many people across Australia are in an accident using a scooter. This training will outline the step-by-step process to assess, request and train adult clients to use mobility scooters. Steps will be outlined using the OT process to mitigate risks and ensure good outcomes.
Learning objectives:
- Understand the Process of Assessment for Mobility Scooters (vs Powered Wheelchair)
- Apply clinical reasoning for safe and effective recommendations of scooters
- Complete assessments to determine if you should recommend for a scooter
- Trial and train your clients to use the scooter to be safe, independent to meet their goals
