Sinéad graduated from the University of Plymouth in the UK with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2018. She has over eight years of experience in stroke and neurology services, working across both community and inpatient rehabilitation settings in London.
Sinéad is Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) trained, an evidence based, client-centred approach used in paediatrics and rehab settings to help individuals acquire skills and improve performance in daily tasks. She has also completed further training covering modules in brain injury, attention, executive functions, memory, visual processing and information processing. Sinéad has also undertaken further training in thermo-plastic splinting for management of spasticity in neurological conditions.
Sinéad’s community work involved running group therapy programs in symptom management, offering education and strategies around energy conservation, fatigue management, and sensory re-education. Assessment and trialling of AT, complex moving and handling, positioning support have been key aspects of her work in brain injury units and in clients’ homes in community settings.
Sinéad is committed to continually expanding her knowledge and deepening her understanding of clients’ lived experiences. She brings a strong focus on active listening, empathy, and person-centred care to her daily practice. She values the opportunity to build meaningful rapport with her clients and feels privileged to support them in working towards goals that are most important to them.
