ART Independent OT Assessments

ART Independent OT Assessments

Our ART independent OT assessments provide fair, evidence-based evaluations for NDIS matters before the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART). Although referrals often come from legal representatives acting for the NDIA, we also accept requests from participants, advocates, or the tribunal itself. Assessments can be completed in Sydney or interstate, with therapist travel arranged as required.

Each assessment focuses on a person’s functional capacity and the supports needed to maintain safety, independence, and participation at home and in the community. Because these assessments are completed independently of treating providers, legal teams, and funding bodies, the findings remain objective, clinically informed, and practical. Reports are written clearly to assist decision-makers in understanding functional abilities and recommending appropriate supports.

Who provides independent ART OT assessments?

Our ART OT assessments are completed by experienced occupational therapists who specialise in independent NDIS evaluations. Each therapist takes a client-centred approach, looking at how physical, psychological, and environmental factors work together to shape a person’s daily life. Their role is to offer an unbiased assessment and expert opinion that brings clinical evidence into clear, practical recommendations. The assessment stays fully independent, whether it’s arranged by participants, their advocate, a legal representative, or the tribunal.

We can help with:

  • Experienced, independent OT ART assessments
  • Objective, evidence-based evaluation of functional capacity
  • Focused on practical, real-world needs and independence

Who engages independent ART OT services?

Independent ART OT assessments are often requested by participants, families, advocates, legal professionals, and tribunals. People usually seek our support when an NDIS decision needs to be reviewed, when extra evidence is required for an appeal, or when a tribunal or court needs a clear picture of someone’s functional abilities. No matter who engages our service, our therapists remain fully independent and focused on the participant’s needs, their day-to-day functioning, and their eligibility for supports.

We can help:

  • Participants or families needing evidence for NDIS appeals
  • Legal representatives seeking an objective functional assessment
  • Tribunals or courts requiring independent clinical input

What an independent ART OT assessment involves

An ART OT assessment may include interviews, observation, functional testing, and a detailed review of a person’s ability to manage personal care, household tasks, community access, mobility, and safety within their environment. Therapists also consider assistive technology, home modifications, and future support needs.

Following the assessment, we prepare a comprehensive report with clear recommendations that may relate to assistive technology, home modifications, SIL or SDA considerations, or ongoing support requirements. Reports are structured to assist the tribunal in making fair, well-informed decisions.

We can help with:

  • Comprehensive reviews of personal and domestic care abilities
  • Evaluation of community access and engagement
  • Recommendations for assistive technology and environmental modifications
  • Detailed, impartial reports to support ART decisions

Independent ART OT assessment funding and costs

The cost of an ART OT assessment depends on the complexity of the situation. We’ll provide a clear, tailored quote based on the participant’s needs, and our team will guide referrers through the process.
