Often clients with complex needs require a highly modified physical space to facilitate function and independent living. Our OT SDA and SIL Functional Assessments thoroughly evidence eligibility for funding available through the NDIS to strengthen the application process. Specialist disability accommodation (SDA) is housing designed for people with very high support needs or extreme functional impairment. SDA housing features accessible design elements enabling people access to a home where they can live more independently.
Accessible design also facilitates the needs for other supports to be better delivered such as personal care or domestic assistance. Supported Independent Living (SIL) refers to the supports a person requires to live independently within their home. SIL funding can be in a shared arrangement or individual and is generally funded for people with a high level of support needs.
