Kirstin Hopkins

Occupational Therapist

Kirstin is an experienced Occupational Therapist with a special interest in Mental Health, originally from South Africa and now based in Sydney since 2009. Her career spans various settings including acute inpatient, rehabilitation, and community environments. Since 2019, she has been providing OT services to NDIS participants with psychosocial disabilities in the private sector.

Kirstin values collaboration and compassionately supports her clients and their families/carers by assisting them to develop the skills they need to empower themselves, in order to live their best lives. Kirstin employs a trauma-informed approach, and her expertise includes working with adults (over 18) diagnosed with various complex psychosocial presentations. Kirstin has a growing passion for working with Neurodivergent clients to support their unique functional and sensory needs.

Committed to ongoing professional development, Kirstin seeks knowledge from those with lived experiences, and engages in training courses to ensure she follows current best practice. Kirstin is AHPRA accredited and a member of OT Australia. She assists NDIS participants and their families/carers in identifying appropriate support levels and accommodation needs, and focuses on enhancing functional and vocational skills through the provision of ongoing intervention. Kirstin uses sensory approaches to support emotional regulation and enhance participation in daily activities.

Outside of work, Kirstin is a dedicated mother of two young boys, enjoys family time, baking, and nature appreciation. She finds fulfilment in her role within the Verve OT team, which values clinical expertise and aims for optimal client outcomes.
